Africa-Press – Angola. The inauguration of more than 20 factories in the last two years is placing the province of Bengo in a prominent position in the industrialization of Angola, said Governor Maria Antónia Nelumba on Friday.

According to the governor, who was speaking at the inauguration of a manganese silicon factory in the municipality of Panguila, the start of operations of these manufacturing units is strengthening Angola’s industrial core.

“In the last two years, more than twenty companies from the most diverse branches of activity, from small, medium and large, have been inaugurated in Bengo, a reason that fills us with joy, because we are moving towards one of the central objectives of the Executive, which is the diversification of the national economy,” the governor said.

In the province of Bengo, there are factories in operation producing household appliances, water bottling plants, soft drinks and juices, mosaics and tiles, manganese ore processing, durable plastic products, disposable medical materials, and footwear.

The foundation stone was recently laid for the construction of an industrial and logistics park that will join the Sonangol fuel logistics terminal in the Barra do Dande Free Development Zone.

Later this year, an aluminum factory will be inaugurated in Barra do Dande, employing around 2,000 workers.

Maria Nelumba said that in 2026, efforts will be made to inaugurate new factories, which will place Bengo province in a prominent position in the country’s industrialization.

She emphasized that Bengo has the advantage of being located a few kilometers from the country’s capital, which is the main consumer market, and offers a set of factors that encourage investment, such as fertile land, strategic and rare minerals, abundant water, young workers, and a Free Zone.

“We are deeply convinced that with everyone’s effort and dedication, we will propel Bengo province to higher levels of socio-economic development, with the aim of offering its people better living conditions. This is our relentless and ongoing struggle,” said Governor Nelumba.
