Africa-Press – Angola. A factory with the capacity to produce 30,000 tons of manganese silicon per year was inaugurated on Friday in the municipality of Panguila by Maria Antónia Nelumba, the governor of Bengo province.
The factory was built with an investment of 20 million US dollars and has created 260 jobs for Angolans. This number could reach 600 with the implementation of other phases of the project, according to the CEO of Xintai Henseng, Liu Feng.
Through systematic training and the transfer of technical knowledge and practical experience in the workplace, Liu Feng said, more young Angolans will become skilled workers, technicians, and managers within the company.
“We are fully aware that industrial development is not only about the economy, but also about social responsibility,” Feng stressed.
He said part of the manganese silicon production is intended for domestic consumption, primarily for the national steel industry, while the rest is exported to Europe, the United States, and some Asian countries.
Manganese silicon (FeSiMn) is a key ferroalloy in the steel industry. It is used as a powerful deoxidizer and alloying agent to remove oxygen and impurities from steel. This improves the steel’s strength and hardness. Manganese silicon is crucial in special and stainless steels.
