Benguela Government Presents Investment Opportunities

Africa-Press – Angola. Investment opportunities in the province of Benguela in the agro-industry, fishing and tourism segments were presented on Friday, in this city, by the local governor, Manuel Nunes Júnior, to the general director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Makhtar Diop.

The presentation of Benguela’s potential aimed, essentially, at encouraging this institution, a member of the World Bank, to mobilize foreign financing to support private sector companies that carry out actions in the aforementioned areas.

During a meeting, as part of Makhtar Diop’s visit to Benguela, the government official recognized that IFC represents an added value so that some private initiative projects can be materialized, by attracting foreign direct investment.

In this sense, he said there is already a business plan in some fundamental areas for the private sector, namely the production of fruit, such as mango and pineapple, in addition to the production of canned fish and boosting tourism.

“The feasibility studies have already been carried out. We are willing to interact with the IFC, if there is interest, to see how we can work together to align these projects that will benefit the Lobito Corridor”, he informed.

The IFC general director’s trip to Benguela, which included visits to the operations control center, the Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) office and the Carrinho Group facilities, marked the end of his four-day working day in Angola.
