Africa-Press – Angola. One and a half billion Kwanzas is the amount that the energy sector in the province of Bié expects to save annually on the purchase of fuel, when the solar photovoltaic plant in the city of Cuito comes into operation.
The data was provided in Cuito, by the President of the Board of Directors (PCA) of Prodel EP, Pedro Afonso, during the act of consignment of the solar project – Angola, by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges.
With a capacity of 14.5 megawatts, the official said that the project will allow the energy sector to stop purchasing 10 million 819 thousand and 417 liters of fuel each year.
In turn, the President of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Making Celebration Amazing (MCA) group, Elizabeth Alves, responsible for the construction of the project, informed that the Cuito plant generated 70 direct jobs in the first phase, with the forecast of reaching the 150 workers.
Budgeted at 20 million 883 thousand and 712 euros, it is expected to cover around 90 thousand inhabitants of Cuito, from 2025, with clean energy from the sun.
The project is being built in the Caluco neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Cuito, in an area of 25 hectares.
The governor of Bié, Pereira Alfredo, said that the Solar-Angola project will put the province on the development path, by producing clean energy.
He said that it constitutes a reason for satisfaction for all bienos, given the new sources of energy production, which are beginning to justify the various requests from companies interested in investing in the province, especially in the industrialization sector, where the biggest concern is with energy .
“Little by little the province’s energy matrix is undergoing positive changes”, he said, highlighting that the photovoltaic project is exactly in an area where there are neighborhoods such as Caluco, Chivinda, São José and Chissindo, where the energy supply is still deficient.
Also the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, traveled to the municipality of Catabola, where he visited the construction project for the 60 kV Substation, including the medium and low voltage networks, which aims to benefit around 126,631 inhabitants .
Then he went to Camacupa, having seen the electrification works of the Kunje dam, which has a capacity of 2 MW. With this project, it is planned to build a 30 Kv line and the MV, BT and IP networks in Camacupa.
