Africa-Press – Angola. The Border Guard Police (PGF) in Lunda Norte province was, Tuesday, reinforced with various technical means aimed at improving operational activities along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Ten vehicles and motorcycles were delivered to facilitate patrolling at different border posts and make the fight against illegal immigration, smuggling of merchants and fuel, trafficking in diamonds and minors more effective.

On the occasion, the provincial delegate for the Interior in Lunda Norte, Gerson Miguel, said that the means delivered will boost operational actions, especially in difficult access roads used by immigrants.

He appealed to PGF agents to redouble their vigilance, especially in diamond mining areas, the main attraction for immigrants.

Data from the National Police indicate that from January to the present date, 112 cases of border violation were registered, 20 more compared to the same period, which resulted in the arrest of 25,524 citizens of the DRC, against 1,358 in 2021.

11 thousand and 10 irregular immigrants from the DRC were expelled from the national territory, 585 more than in the same period last year, through the border posts of Chissanda, Furtuna, Nachiri, Lupemba, Itanda, Nordeste, Furi-3 and Marcos-5, in the municipalities from Chitato and Cambulo.

In turn, the governor of Lunda Norte, Deolinda Satula Vilarinho, reiterated the institutional and material support of the local government, in improving the operational actions of the different bodies of the Ministry of the Interior.

He appealed to the population to continue collaborating with the National Police, denouncing crimes and citizens who aid illegal immigration.

He also urged the denouncement of acts of corruption among the agents, mainly linked to emigration and foreigners and road and transit.

During the presentation of the means, 11 members of different MININT bodies were promoted and promoted to the levels of inspectors, chief inspectors and sub-inspectors.
