Brazil to Invest USD 120 Million in Angola Agriculture

Africa-Press – Angola. Some USD 120 million will be invested, starting next year, by the Brazilian government in Angola’s farming sector, the advisor to the Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Agostin Teti, announced on Monday in Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte Province.

Speaking to the press, during a three-day visit to the northern Cuanza-Norte Province that began Monday, the official said that the presence of businesspeople from the Brazilian states of Bahia and Mato Grosso in Angola is a result of agreements signed between the two countries with the aim to boost the farming sector in the national territory.

He added that the aforementioned financing should cover the opening of communication lanes in investment areas and soil studies, using state-of-the-art technology.

The official stated that the delegation of 15 businesspeople from this South American country to the province, aims to learn about the region’s farming potential, as well as to identify locations where investments can be implemented.

On the occasion, the governor of Cuanza-Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, said that the province is available to receive private investments and reaffirmed the institutional support of the local government, especially in simplifying administrative procedures.

He said that the province has approximately 60,000 hectares of land available for potential investors in the agricultural sector.

The Brazilian delegation will visit the agricultural perimeters of the municipalities of Cambambe, Lucala, Ambaca, Samba Cajú, and Luinga, as well as hold a meeting with economic agents in the province.
