Africa-Press – Angola. Brazilian businesspeople that have been visiting the province of Cuanza Norte since Monday, said they are impressed by the agricultural potential of the municipality of Luínga, especially its large-scale corn and soybean production.

Speaking at the end of their visit, the agricultural attaché at the Brazilian Embassy in Angola, José Guilherme Leal, acknowledged the advantages of the Luínga irrigated perimeter for cereal production and highlighted the fertility of the soil and regular rainfall.

Leal said that the project’s first phase envisions an investment of 120 million USD dollars from a Brazilian bank for grain production on 20,000 hectares of land.

Humberto Mesquita, the director of the provincial office of agriculture in Cuanza Norte, highlighted the impact of Brazilian investment in boosting food production and creating jobs for young people.

He explained that the area where the agricultural project will be implemented is untouched and that roads must be built to access the production area and install irrigation channels and other support services.

Luínga, located on the Camabatela plateau, is surrounded by the Huhi, Luínga, Manduji, and Lucala rivers.

The delegation, comprising 15 businesspeople from Bahia and Mato Grosso, ended its visit on Wednesday.
