Brazilian writer wins “Angola Lê” award

Africa-Press – Angola. The work “Armonia Intercultural”, by Brazilian writer Gustavo Rodrigues de Sousa Javarini, won Saturday, in Huambo, the first edition of the “Angola Lê” literary competition, with 9.5 percent of the votes.

The competition, which took place over two months, with the participation of two thousand and 54 writers from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLA), is mentored by Angolan writer Nituchini Africano.

The winner received the value of one million kwanzas and the free publication of 100 copies of the winning work, in addition to a trophy and certificate of merit, which will be awarded on January 8th, on the occasion of the National Culture Day celebrations.

The revelation writer award was won by Angolan Henrique Pacifo, with the work “Um novo Dawn”, earning him the sum of 500 thousand kwanzas, the publication of 50 copies of the book and a trophy.

On the occasion, Nituchini Africano recalled that the “Angola Lê” competition aims to discover new CPLP writing talents, aged between 18 and 35, who have not yet released any physical or digital literary work on the market.

He said that according to the competition rules, only works written in the genre of poetry, from 35 to 40 pages, and prose, from 35 to 60 pages, participate.

He praised the participation of CPLP’s new literary talents, with emphasis on Brazil, which had 789 competitors, out of the two thousand and 54 registered in the “Angola Lê” contest.
