Africa-Press – Angola. The volume of business between Angola and Indonesia rose from 1.5 billion US dollars to USD 1.6 billion (1 dollar is equivalent to Kz 836), in the last five years, said today, in Luanda, the ambassador of that country, Wisnu Edi pratignyo.
According to the diplomat, who was speaking at the Indonesia/Angola Business Forum, during the period under review, Angola exported to Indonesia, in addition to agricultural products, essentially oil.
“We intend to increase, in the coming years, the volume of exports, with the inclusion of fishing products and minerals from Angola”, he highlighted.
He recognized Angola as a country with enormous resources, a fact that interests Indonesia in increasingly strengthening cooperation, since its country is among the fastest growing in the world.
The diplomat also added that his country is also interested in cooperating with Angola in the education sectors, through the provision of scholarships, to exchange information.
For her part, the Angolan Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen dos Santos, said that Angola intends to cooperate with the Indonesian Government, especially in the production of tilapia (cacusso) which the Asian country has experience to pass on to Angolans.
Angola and Indonesia have bilateral agreements in the areas of Commerce, Industry, Education and Technology.
Historic
Indonesia has been a partner in the field of south-south cooperation since the days of the Bandung Conference, held between 18 and 24 April 1955.
Since then, Angola and Indonesia have maintained political relations, albeit indirectly, with political and diplomatic relations registering significant improvements on August 7, 2001.
The two countries have signed several legal cooperation instruments, namely the Visa Exemption Agreement on Diplomatic Passports and the Memorandum on Political Consultations.
They have also initialed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Angola and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, in 2017.
