Africa-Press – Angola. Businesswomen expressed, Tuesday (08), their interest in joining the network of distributors of products manufactured by the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone Development Society (ZEE), for consumer markets.

The revelation was made by the Secretary of State for the Family and Promotion of Women, Elsa Barber Dias dos Santos, at the end of a visit she made to three factories located in the ZEE, in the company of representatives of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs of Angola (FMEA). ), within the scope of the actions of the National Development Plan 2018-2022 aimed at the Promotion of Gender and the Empowerment of Women, as well as their full integration into economic, financial and professional life.

Elsa Barber told the press that the intention was presented to the managers of the units visited, and from the contact maintained at the factory facilities some areas of investment were identified, the most attractive being food, for the outlet of producers to warehouses, markets and retailers.

According to the official, the women entrepreneurs also welcome the bet on the detergent industry, with whom they intend to dialogue in order to, in the future, think about initiatives for the production of essences with local products for the factories.

From the contact, it was also possible to assess new business and employability opportunities for women, in order to put their skills and values ​​into practice, and, in this way, give dignity to their families.

According to the minister, in the current context imposed by Covid-19, especially in Africa, women and children are increasingly exposed to a situation of vulnerability, hence the need to reinvent themselves, with projects that promote productive inclusion and income generation, as well as new opportunities for collective or individual growth that aim to restore dignity to women and their families.

The FMEA president said she expects more opening of the factories installed in the ZEE, so that the associates can benefit from the valences that the manufacturing units offer.

Francisca Fortes stated that, if agreements are signed, there will be mutual benefits, as the association she directs is made up of women with extensive experience in national and regional business. in ways to help the final consumer, but it is necessary that the factories are open to proposals and interact with the wholesalers so that they can acquire the products”, he said.

Carla Vicente, executive director of the ZEE, said that a social responsibility office was created in that space that incorporates values ​​and practices aimed at gender equity and the empowerment of women. The idea is to ensure that “men and women are treated fairly and without discrimination, in ways that promote gender equality”.
