Sonangol’s Renewable Gas and Energies Unit (UGER) increased its production capacity by 28 percent, from the available 4,437 metric tons, to respond to strong demand, motivated by the stoppage of liquid production in the first week of February, with the aim of base the frame of a new storage unit.

The information was provided by the president of the Executive Committee of the UGER, Manuel Barros, during a press conference that was preceded by a collective visit by the different media to the site, to assess the efficiency achieved with the interconnection of the 1,200 metric ton unit. at the Petrangol distribution center (Luanda).

Manuel Barros informed that the Distribution Center has the capacity to fill 15,000 bottles per shift, totaling 45,000 bottles of 12 kilograms each, under normal conditions, without neglecting the others that are filled uninterruptedly, with emphasis on the 51 kilograms.

Last year, the company produced 341 thousand tons of gas, distributed throughout the national territory. The challenge for the current year is to reach 400 thousand tons, with the improvement implemented in the system and with the opening of new distribution units, including the Ocean Terminal at Barra do Dande.

As a general rule, the unit covers all incoming requests, at a time when all carousels (filling infrastructure) work without limitations, said the official.

Now, “we are thinking about building a modern unit at the Barra do Dan-de Ocean Terminal, which will triple the capacity”, guaranteed Manuel Barros. terms of productivity, at Zango, with a capacity of 3,500 tons, having, on the same day, filled ten thousand bottles”, he said.

Another facility that stands out is that of Panguila, which works at the same pace and with indications of introducing new bottles and improves transport capacity. Manuel Barros also made it known that an effort is being made, with the major retailers, to normalize the distribution of Gas. Among these, “we have our large partners, such as Canhongo, SaigGás, Progás and GásTêm, in a joint effort to improve the supply to the city of Luanda”, he noted.

According to the official, the intervention started on 4 February aimed at improving local autonomy, in terms of storage, and this allowed for two days to go and storage medium, in Luanda, for four days.

As for prices, “we leave it to the authorities, as they are regulated by the state and nobody is authorized to sell a kilogram of gas over 100 kwanzas to the public,” he emphasized.
