The municipality of Caconda, province of Huíla, will make available, this year, 48 million and 500 thousand kwanzas to the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty aimed at professional training, provision of work kits and other means to empower families vulnerable.
These are projects aimed at promoting gender and women’s empowerment, as well as actions to support citizenship, in order to minimize the problems of vulnerable families in Caconda.
When speaking about the projects, the head of the municipal planning section, Faustino Tchacola, stated that the training and distribution of kits, as well as rural products, will benefit more than 60 families, a package costing 18 million kwanzas.
He also mentioned that they intend to channel eight million kwanzas to purchase food for people in vulnerable situations, including victims of natural disasters.
In addition to supporting vulnerable communities, the source stated that they will also hold seven seminars and 15 lectures on sustainable development and social municipalization as part of actions to support citizenship, worth 18 million kwanzas.
“We also have the acquisition of a computer kit to support CASI with a budget of one million and 500 thousand kwanzas, we have the acquisition of office material valued at three million kwanzas”, he continued.
Faustino Tchacola announced that the initiatives will be presented on the 16th of the current month for analysis and approval at a meeting between the local administration and the Community Auditing Council.
The monthly value of the Integrated Local Development and Poverty Combat Program, together with school meals, is valued at 28 million kwanzas, totaling 336 million kwanzas annually.
The municipality of Caconda is 230 kilometers north of Lubango and has an estimated population of 227 thousand 362 inhabitants.
