Africa-Press – Angola. The first phase of the Nova Era Shopping Center, the largest in the municipality of Cacuaco in terms of space (96 hectares), starts operating within ten days, with more than 400 stores, announced this Sunday, the president of the Council of Project administration, Jack Huang.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the verification visit by local administration officials, Jack Huang explained that the project will be fully completed in 2026, and should house a total of 1,400 stores.
The structure occupies a total area of 96 hectares, but only 30 hectares will come into operation in the first phase.
The investment belongs to the “African Sunrise Investment” group, which plans to invest more than 40 billion kwanzas in the space by 2026, when the project is expected to be completed, according to its manager.
“We chose to invest in the municipality of Cacuaco because it represents, for us, a strategic area with easy access to other municipalities,” he said.
He made it known that, in parallel to this, the group is analyzing the creation, in the surrounding area, of an industrial production field to supply the aforementioned shopping center and, thus, reduce dependence on imports.
Jack Huang did not provide data related to the number of jobs, but said that Angolans and 20 Chinese work in this infrastructure construction process.
According to data from the Cacuaco administration, the municipality receives more than 100 investment proposals every month in different areas of activity, focusing on agribusiness, commerce and industry.
At the same time as the visit to the shopping center, school materials were distributed to 150 children and basic necessities were delivered to the same number of adults, including some elderly people.
“Basic baskets, kitchen utensils and mattresses were distributed to these people, an initiative that will help improve their social situation”, Cacuaco’s deputy administrator for the Political, Social and Communities Area, Isabel Vesse Vesse, told .
Located north of the city center of Luanda, the municipality of Cacuaco is a region inhabited by one million and 688 thousand people.
