Africa-Press – Angola. The president of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, works today in the city of Lilongwe, capital of Malawi, where he will attend the opening ceremony of the qualifying zone qualifiers for the African Football Championship for Schools in the Cosafa Zone.

The African School Football Championship is one of CAF’s main programs for the current term, assumed by South African businessman Patrice Motsepe and which aims to develop men’s and women’s football in Africa, with a focus on schools and grassroots.

To date, 41 countries are registered in this competition, which totaled 18,000 schools and 450,000 African boys and girls participating in the first edition of the African Schools Football Programme.

The Cosafa Zone qualifier is the second regional qualifier to take place in the last quarter of 2022, after the successful launch that took place in Cairo, Egypt, referring to the zone phase of the North African Football Union (UNAF), region comprising Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia and Morocco.

Before arriving in Malawi, the highest representative of African football was in Vilankulos, Maputo, in the Mozambican capital, where he had the opportunity to watch the African beach football final between the reigning champions, Senegal and Egypt.
