Campaign for Mass Distribution of Identity Cards Begins

Africa-Press – Angola. The national director of Identification, Registration and Notary, Aristides Marques, stated on Friday in Luanda that the campaign to issue and assign the Identity Card, called “BI da Dipanda”, aims to issue around 90 percent of the population identified throughout the country.

Aristides Marques, who made these statements during a press conference, highlighted that the objective of the campaign is to surpass the 27 thousand tickets issued in the last initiative.

“Our great expectation is to exceed this number, given the high demand from citizens and the new approach that allows the processing of the Identity Card after birth,” highlighted the person in charge.

The activity is part of the National Independence celebrations and aims to make it possible to issue Identity Cards for school-age children, including those aged 0 to 17. The campaign will take place during the month of November, with all identification posts open on Saturdays to serve the population.

“The program will only run during the month of November. Professionals will be available at all service stations on the five Saturdays of the month. The campaign will operate nationwide for the issuing and delivery of Identity Cards,” explained the director.

Regarding foreign citizens, Aristides Marques informed that the campaign is exclusively aimed at Angolan citizens. “This initiative only benefits national citizens, since foreigners have specific procedures to follow”, he clarified.

To ensure the success of the campaign, the director highlighted that the teams will be prepared to assist citizens who face problems with the documentation presented.

Luanda is the province with the most Identity Cards

Aristides Marques also highlighted that Luanda continues to be the province with the highest number of Identity Cards issued, compared to Cuanza-Norte. The official justified this situation by the fact that Luanda is the most populous province in the country. “At the moment, Luanda is, without a doubt, the province with the most Identity Cards, as we have the largest population level in the country”, he concluded.

The “BI da Dipanda” campaign not only seeks to expand inclusion and facilitate access to civil identification, but also aims to promote citizenship among young people, reflecting the Government’s commitment to ensuring that all Angolan citizens are duly registered and identified.
