Africa-Press – Angola. Angola is one of Cape Verde’s main partners in the fields of transport, energy and fuel, said this Monday the Cape Verdean Minister for Communities, Jorge Santos.
The Cape Verdean official made these considerations during a meeting with the deputy governor of Luanda for the Political and Social Sector, Manuel Gonçalves, as part of a five-day visit to Angola.
Jorge Santos explained that in the field of transport, cooperation focuses on the air and maritime segments, in addition to presence in the real estate and tourism sectors.
He considered the contact with the Government of Luanda to be important, as it served to analyze the situation of the Cape Verdean community residing in the Angolan capital.
In this context, he thanked the support that has been provided for the integration of Cape Verdeans into Angolan society for several generations, whose current number is 120 thousand people.
During the meeting, the parties decided to strengthen cultural ties between the two peoples, enhance human capital, as well as combine efforts to create a Cape Verde house in Luanda, an old desire of the community.
In compliance with the work agenda, the Cape Verdean minister maintained contact with his countrymen residing in the São Paulo neighbourhood, with Angolan businessmen, in addition to several meetings with Angolan entities.
The formalization of political-diplomatic relations between Angola and Cape Verde took place on August 30, 1977.
Since then, they maintain excellent bilateral relations and commonly integrate several organizations, namely the PALOP (African Countries of Portuguese Official Language), the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), the African Union (UA), among other international ones where they concert ideas and positions to be taken in favor of their peoples.
