Africa-Press – Angola. The cultural heritage of the “People’s Party”, in the country’s capital, produced over more than four decades, is available to the public, from today, between 9 am and 6 pm, and until the 1st of March, at a Carnival fair, promoted by the Municipal Administration of Viana.

The event takes place between Hoji Ya Henda Street, in the Fire Department, and the intersection of Comandante Chê Guevara Street, in Viana. Since Sunday, a technical team coordinated by the municipal direction of Tourism and Local Culture has worked on setting up the stages and carrying out the activity.

While the exhibition of Shrovetide artifacts from the carnival groups União Twabixila, Nzinga Mbandi, Unidos do Zango, Juventude do Kapalanga, Domante do Cacuaco, Povo da Samba, Animadores do Hoji-Ya-Henda, Cassules do Gearção Sagrada and Viveiros Nzinga is taking place Mbandi, motorists who use this road daily, must follow the temporary signs created occasionally to avoid constraints on the site.

Even today, the provincial Carnival meeting is scheduled for 10 am, in the African League, with the participation of heads of carnival groups and specialists in Shrovetide, according to the activities program of the Luanda Provincial Carnival Association.

The meeting is part of the various activities of the centenary celebrations of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto. Tomorrow and until the 28th of this month, the Entrudo Fair is scheduled to take place at Parque da Independência, in Luanda, where artefacts from over 40 carnival groups from the country’s capital will be exhibited.

Among the activities scheduled, there is a tribute to different figures and personalities linked to the Luanda Carnival, scheduled for Friday at 17:00, at Palácio de Ferro, in which figures linked to the Carnival will be distinguished.

According to the program of activities, on Saturday, the “Batucada do Carnaval” is scheduled to take place at 10:00 am, at the Independente do Golfe course, at Kilamba Kiaxi, in Luanda.

The central event, this year, will be celebrated with the holding, on March 1st, of the “Live do Carnaval de Luanda”, at 15:00, at the TPA Production Center, in Camama, with the exhibition of the 13 groups of class A (Adults) of 2020, due to the fact that the competitive parade has not been held for two years, due to Covid-19. In this edition, the organization includes the historic carnival group União Kabocomeu do Sambizanga, from class B (Adults), which ends the “Live”.
