CASA-CE candidate leaves for Cabinda today

Africa-Press – Angola. The candidate for President of the Republic by CASA-CE, Manuel Fernandes, travels today to Cabinda, where he will perform, tomorrow, a political act, the penultimate in the scope of the campaign with a view to the General Elections on the 24th of this month, he said, this Tuesday, to Jornal de Angola, the coalition’s secretary for Information and Marketing.

João Nazaré also said that Manuel Fernandes is scheduled to return to Luanda on Friday, to, the following day, guide, at Largo das Escolas, the act that will mark the closing of the CASA-CE campaign. The act, he said, will only be the consolidation of the message that the coalition has been passing since the pre-campaign until today.

Tomorrow’s act, in Cabinda, will be preceded by a march along the main arteries of the city, during which voters will also be asked to vote in the political formation that has number 5 on the ballot.

Manuel Fernandes travels to a province where the results of the last elections were balanced. in 2017, the MPLA won in Cabinda, obtaining 39.81% of the total valid votes (150,390). CASA-CE was second, with 29.27%; and in third, very close to the coalition, was UNITA, with 28.19%. In the distribution of seats in the National Assembly, the MPLA and CASA-CE each elected two deputies and UNITA only one. In the following positions were the PRS, FNLA and APN, with 1.05%, 0.90% and 0.78%, respectively, and without electing any deputy.

The elections on the 24th of this month will confirm whether or not the balance continues in the northernmost province of the country, but the political forces that contested the elections in 2017 now have the competition of two more new parties: P-NJANGO, by Dinho Chingunji, and the PHA, by Florbela Malaquias.

The Presidential College of CASA-CE yesterday considered the campaign carried out so far to be positive. The coalition’s highest deliberative body met to take stock of the activities carried out since the beginning of the campaign.

Coalition Counts On Votes Of The Undecided

The secretary for Information and Marketing of CASA-CE, João Nazaré, guaranteed yesterday that the coalition will keep the status of the third largest political force in the country, judging by the receptivity that it has had in the campaign. “We noticed that we managed to recover some esteem from the population. We believe that we will have many votes from the undecided”, said João Nazaré, stressing that in no province has CASA-CE been rejected by the people. “It has always had a good reception”.

“From what we’ve heard from analysts, the CASA-CE campaign was a positive surprise. Proof of this, the candidate for President of the Republic for UNITA (Adalberto Costa Júnior) called the CASA-CE candidate in the early hours of Sunday to congratulate him. thank you for the excellent campaign”, he said.

For all that CASA-CE has done so far, for what he notices and hears in the most varied circles, João Nazaré believes that the coalition will maintain the status of the third largest political force in the country. Better than that, he stressed, it should enlarge the parliamentary group.

In the legislature that ends, CASA-CE had 9.45% of the total valid votes (4,340,047) and elected 16 deputies, against 150 for the MPLA and 51 for UNITA. However, in 2019, the parliamentary group of CASA-CE was divided in two, following the removal of the then leader of the coalition, Abel Chivukuvuku, for alleged “breach of political trust”.

Chivukuvuku was replaced by deputy André Mendes de Carvalho “Miau”, who, in turn, was also, two years later, removed from office, for alleged incompetence. Miau was then replaced by Manuel Fernandes who promised to return to the coalition the mystique left by Abel Chivukuvuku.
