Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred and 83 cases of domestic violence were registered this year in the province of Cuando Cubango, against 323 compared to 2021, press learned this Thursday.

The director of the local Family Counseling Centre, Maria Cacuhu Fernanda Cambinda, who provided the information, said that the reduction in cases resulted from the permanent holding of lectures, seminars, debates, workshops and awareness campaigns on combating domestic violence and of gender.

The official explained that these actions have been promoted, quarterly, in several neighborhoods, military and police units in the nine municipalities, with a view to harmonizing and reconciling families.

There are also debates in the media, as well as meetings with young women empowered in terms of leadership and other graduates in small business.

He said that of the 183 cases of domestic violence, the institution solved 55, while 15 were referred to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), mainly linked to the lack of food provision to minors.
