As a symbol of manifestation and reinforcement of the faith, more than five thousand Catholic faithful participated (Saturday) in a candlelight procession on the occasion of the annual pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Our Lady Mary Help of Christians in Ndalatando, capital of Cuanza Norte.

Marked by moments of prayer, songs and praise to God, the event considered of devotion to God and spiritual renewal of the faithful, covered about five kilometers from the arteries of the city of Ndalatando to the Mariano sanctuary, located in the Kipata neighborhood.

According to the head of the shrine, Father Gino Favor, the present pilgrimage resumes two years after a period of stoppage due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He considered that it is an opportunity for the faithful to pray for the achievement of graces for success in life, fraternal coexistence in the family, search for healing, gratitude for successes achieved in life, among others.

For this year, he informed, the pilgrimage takes place under the motto “With Mary, considered the light and hope of all peoples, we will all walk together”.

Young Adão Fortunato, from the municipality of Cambambe, said that he is taking part in the event to thank God for his access to higher education, after long years of trying.

The faithful Eugénio Tchivala, from the province of Huambo, said it was his first time participating in the event, which for him is representing a true opportunity to renew faith and seek graces, above all, health.

Eduardo Manuel, from the municipality of Libolo, in the province of Cuanza Sul, is taking part in the pilgrimage to give thanks for the graces achieved at work and in some personal projects.

With an annual periodicity, the pilgrimage is an initiative of the Salesian priests of Dom Bosco who carry out missionary activity in Cuanza Norte since the late 1980s and protect the sanctuary of Maria Auxiliadora in Ndalatando.

The faithful from ten provinces of Angola will participate in the activity, where the Salesian missionaries of Don Bosco are represented.

The pilgrimage ends on Sunday with a mass, which is being preceded by a vigil this Saturday.
