Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Transport, Ricardo D`Abreu, in this city, launched the mixed train between the municipalities of Moçâmedes/Bibala, after three years at a standstill.

On a journey of 200 kilometers to be done three times a week, the train launching ceremony departed from the Moçâmedes Railway Station bound for the municipality of Bibala, carrying more than fifty passengers.

The chairman of the Board of Directors of CFM, António da Cruz, stressed that this is a contribution that the company is making to the population with a modest price of 500 kwanzas.

“In road transport, our populations are paying more than 1,500 kz. We are thinking about the social level of passengers by establishing reasonable prices, after we noticed a lot of cargo and passengers in the municipality of Bibala who need to travel to Moçâmedes”, he compared the person in charge who expects greater participation as soon as the services increase.

The locomotive is composed of three wagons (three passenger carriages), supporting more than 70 seats and a freight wagon, which is considered sufficient, at this time, that circulation will be made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. fair.

“This is the safest means of transport for both passengers and goods”, considered António da Cruz, guaranteeing the existence of means for regular maintenance of means, within the framework of improving the company’s service provision.

In turn, the acting governor of Namibe, Anica de Sousa, said in statements that the recovery constitutes an added value in the context of commercial exchanges that will be strengthened, in addition to allowing the transport of passengers with greater comfort.

Anica de Sousa also said that in the municipality of Bibala there is a lot of agricultural production, such as cereals, vegetables and fruits that need to be sold, and “the train really came to facilitate this process which, to a certain extent, will reduce financial costs in terms of carriage”.

He also pointed out that the train will help transport more than a thousand students who attend the two medium institutes in Saco-Mar (seven kilometers away from the Moçâmedes headquarters).

So that the train can continue to make this journey normally, the governor appealed to citizens for greater vigilance, denouncing all those who intend to practice acts of vandalism, with the destruction of metal parts of the railway track that could endanger the lives of thousands of people.

Citizens who made this train their journey to the municipality of Bibala are satisfied with the fact that it is safe and carries cargo normally.

“We are safe here, everyone is carrying their load”, say the passengers.

It should be noted that the Minister of Transport worked this Sunday in Namibe, where he opened the days to revitalize the process of transporting and exporting iron ore and ornamental stones from the southern region of Angola.

The said journey takes place under the motto “Simplify to better export, towards the diversification of the economy”, an event that will also be held in the regions of Gula and Cuando Cubango.

The minister is on his way to Huíla province with the same objective.
