The Government of the People’s Republic of China thanked, yesterday, in Luanda, for the message that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, recently addressed to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on the occasion of another anniversary of the Asian country, celebrated on 1 October.

The thanks were conveyed by Gong Tao, Chinese ambassador in Luanda, during the audience granted to him by Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola.

During the meeting, Gong Tao spoke about holding the Congress of the Communist Party of China, a conclave that takes place once every five years to nominate new leaders, discuss changes to the party’s constitution and align the political agenda for the country, as well as the Xi Jinping’s re-election as CCP General Secretary.

The Chinese ambassador also addressed the Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investment, as well as reaffirming the proposed Agreement between China and Angola on the application of a zero tariff to 98 percent of goods of Angolan origin to be exported. for that Asian power.

At the end of the audience, Téte António expressed his satisfaction that the two countries continued to explore the best ways to diversify and strengthen traditional friendship ties, based on international solidarity and community of values.

Audience with Vladimir Tararov

As part of the diplomatic agenda, Téte António received, yesterday, Vladimir Tararov, ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Angola.

Matters related to the planned holding of the Joint Commission between the two countries were also discussed, as well as cooperation in the field of Education, with emphasis on the Angolan scholarship holders in Russia.

The Republic of Angola and the Russian Federation have had privileged relations since October 8, 1976, when the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries was signed in Moscow.

Currently, cooperation is more significant in the sectors of Energy, Geology and Mining, Higher Education, Staff Training, Defense and Security, Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Fisheries, Transport, Finance and Banking.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Luanda.
