Africa-Press – Angola. The works on the electrification project for the municipalities of Chipapa and Londuimbale, in the province of Huambo, are approximately 80% done, with completion expected in 2026.
According to a statement that on Monday, in addition to these municipalities, the project also covers the municipalities of Ucuma, Chinjenje, Longonjo, Alto Hama and the village of Chipipa, to benefit approximately 6 thousand homes in this region of the central plateau of Angola,
As per the document from the Ministry of Energy and Water, in Ucuma, more technical work is already underway on the medium-voltage network, which will have a length of 23 kilometers (km), while the low-voltage network will have approximately 16 kilometers, connecting eight transformer stations and 400 public lighting fixtures, as well as one thousand household connections.
In the municipality of Chinjenje, the construction of a 24-kilometer medium-voltage line and a 12-kilometer low-voltage line is underway, where six transformer stations, 300 streetlights, and 800 household connections will be integrated.
In Longonjo, the medium-voltage network will be 28 km long and the low-voltage network 16 km long, where eight transformer stations, 400 streetlights, and more than a thousand household connections will be set.
In Alto Hama, a 33-kilometer transmission line is being built, with a 60/30 Kilovolt (kV) substation, seven transformer stations, 400 streetlights, and 800 household connections.
In the town of Chipipa, the project includes a 45-kilometer power line, six transformer stations, public lighting with 400 luminaires, and 800 homes will be connected to the public electricity grid for the first time.
Once completed, the project will bring greater dignity to the inhabitants of the municipalities and localities covered, which translates into 24-hour/day electricity in citizens’ homes.
According to the ministerial department, in addition to the economic and social gains, the project, which has generated more than a thousand jobs for young people, will raise the quality of life of citizens and allow for the leveraging of sustainable development in various areas of the local and regional economy.
This is an unequivocal commitment by the Angolan Government to the continued development of the country, reinforcing its commitment to improving the citizens’ living conditions.
