The Integrated Center for Public Security (CISP), in Huambo, registered, since its implementation, on 26 June last year, one million, 494 thousand and 755 false emergency telephone calls, having placed more than 11 thousand telephone terminals in the “black list”, announced yesterday the provincial delegation of the Ministry of the Interior.

The acting delegate of the Ministry of the Interior in the province of Huambo, José Pinto, described the situation as worrying, having justified that the number of individuals who systematically violate the channels, make abusive calls to 111, shows a growing trend. During calls, he said, individuals verbally mistreat staff on duty.

Overall, the CISP received, in the first year of operation at the unit in Huambo, according to the official, one million 523 thousand and 308 calls, of which only 28 thousand 523 were genuine. José Pinto provided the information, during the celebrations of the institution’s first anniversary, marked yesterday.

Faced with reality, José Pinto said that the system had placed 11,590 telephone terminals on the “black” list, due to the fact that their owners provided false and offensive information to operators. In this way, “the CISP intends to discipline the offenders”. The acting delegate of the Ministry of the Interior in Huambo, José Pinto, appealed to the citizens to make the correct use of the denouncement and grievance channels made available, thus avoiding practices that remove the possibility of helping people with real situations of assistance.

During this period, he said, CISP-Huambo viewed, through the video surveillance room, 45,919 different occurrences. José Pinto explained that the events visualized include 22,348 acts of violation of the rules of the Highway Code, 12,342 of disobedience to the Situation of Public Calamity, within the scope of measures to prevent and combat Covid-19. 11,158 acts of administrative transgression, 19 traffic accidents, 24 identifications of individuals involved in crimes and 28 citizens passed out on public roads were also viewed.

José Pinto considered that the CISP is an important body for the public security strategy, for generating and adding technological values ​​to police actions, mainly in the provision of technical and operational support, in addition to articulating the forces in service with the integrated system of operations and help.

The delegation of the Ministry of the Interior in Huambo intends to expand the coverage points with video surveillance, as well as the reinforcement of the training actions of the effective, with a view to rigorously serving public security. CISP-Huambo is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to monitor and prevent road accidents and crime rates.

The system comprises 74 video surveillance cameras, duly installed in the outskirts and streets of the city of Huambo. CISP plans to install 18 infrastructures by the end of this year, two of which are national and 16 provincial with a budget of US$315 million. Its operation is ensured by more than 154 staff, including staff from the Angolan Armed Forces, the National Police, the Migration and Foreigners Services, Criminal Investigation, Civil Protection and Fire and Penitentiary, including technicians from the National Institute of Medical Emergencies ( INEMA).
