Africa-Press – Angola. Six Angolan citizens were arrested Tuesday, in the municipality of Tomboco, province of Zaire, for allegedly promoting and aiding illegal immigration.
According to the spokesman for the Municipal Delegation of the Interior in Tomboco, Estêvão António Kuala, the arrest took place in the commune of Kinzau, on National Road 100, which connects the municipalities of Soyo and Tomboco.
He explained that the detainees were transporting 22 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on a bus bound for the country’s capital (Luanda), charging 150,000 kwanzas for each head.
He detailed that of the number of illegal immigrants from the municipality of Soyo, nine are women accompanied by three children.
He informed that the aforementioned Angolan and foreign citizens were detained following an operation to combat illegal immigration, carried out by the National Police on Estrada Nacional 100.
Angolan citizens will be presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the next few days, while foreigners were handed over to the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) for due treatment.
