Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan international referee Cláudio Anderson will miss the fourth FIBA African Zone qualifying window for the 2023 World Cup in Asia for professional reasons
Cláudio Anderson was notified by FIBA Mundo, last Thursday, along with António Bernardo, to judge the matches that will take place in the Tunisian city of Monastir, where Senegal, DRC, South Sudan and Cameroon will evolve.
The 35-year-old judge is a member of the Ministry of the Interior, and is performing functions for which he was specifically appointed for the period in which the General Elections are being prepared in the country.
The referee explained that he had already replied to the entity that oversees the sport: “As soon as I was notified, I tried to answer the email. On the other hand, the Angolan Basketball Federation will also send a letter to formalize my unavailability”, lamented Cláudio.
For his part, António Bernardo will referee for the third time, this year, in the World Cup qualifying competitions, and guarantees that he will do his best, as he has always done, and “dignify the name of Angola”.
“In each performance we are evaluated by 15 international instructors from different countries. The idea is to always leave a good image, which implies working as hard as possible in all aspects”, he underlined.
