Africa-Press – Angola. With four gold medals each, the two athletes from the Clube Náutico da Ilha de Luanda (CNIL), Santiago Guimarães and Alex Fortes, dominated the first day of the Luanda International Meeting, in swimming, which takes place at the Alvalade Pool.

Santiago Guimarães, a 12-year-old youth swimmer, dominated the 400 freestyle, with a time of 5:04.69, and the 200 meters (2:20.93), in the morning.

In the afternoon, he went to get the gold medal, in the 200-meter butterfly, with a time of 2:55.45 and in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:29.01).

Alex Fortes, 17 years old, won first place in the junior category, in the 400-meter freestyle (4:54.93) and 100-meter backstroke (1:07.40), in the morning.

In the afternoon, he beat his opponents in the 50m backstroke and in the 200m backstroke (31:11).

In female junior, Maria Parimbelli (CNIL) won three gold medals, in the 400-meter freestyle (5:29.81), 200-meter freestyle (2:36.91-morning) and 200-meter butterfly (3:26.31-afternoon).

She was followed by athlete from 1.o de Agosto, in Juniors, Aleksandra Zhukov, who won two golds in the 100 meters breaststroke (1:22.52 ) and 50 meters breaststroke (43.32)

The competition continues on Saturday, in the morning, with competitions, for both sexes, in the 400 meters styles, 50 meters butterfly, 200 meters breaststroke, 100 meters freestyle and 4×100 meters styles.

In the afternoon, swim in the 800m freestyle (men), 1500m freestyle (women), 50m freestyle (men and women), 200m freestyle (men and women), 100m butterfly (men and women) and 4×100 meter freestyle (men).

Aprova, organized by the Provincial Swimming Association of Luanda (APNL), has the participation of 195 athletes, of which 12 are from Mozambique and nine from Portugal, in the categories of Juveniles, Juniors, seniors and veterans.

On Sunday, the last day, an open water race will be held, on the island of Luanda, with a distance of five thousand metres, three thousand meters and one thousand and five hundred metres.
