Commercial banks disbursed 542 billion kwanzas (about US$1 billion) in favor of the real sector of the economy, under BNA Notice 10/2020, with which, in two years, 432 projects received financing, said the deputy. -Governor Rui Miguêns.
The amount of disbursements refers to the period from April 2020 to February this year, representing 305 percent more than the limit defined for loans in that first year, forcing banks to lend 2.5 percent of net assets, an instrument that remains in force, after being extended, in 2021.
Of the financed projects, 146 are being implemented in Luanda (40 percent of the total), 42 in Benguela (10 ) and the remaining 50 percent involve another 14 provinces, with Lunda-Norte and Moxico not benefiting from any such funding. domain.
The food, agriculture and agro-industry, with sugarcane and derivatives, beverages, fishing and animal production absorbing the largest share of loans, which, in a global way (counting the total disbursed), resulted in the creation of about 36 thousand jobs.
The deputy governor of the BNA, who presented these data at a conference dedicated to “Financing the real sector”, the first of 2022 of the BNA’s Annual Cycle of Conferences, considered that the funding promoted by Notice 10/2020 demonstrates the commitment of the central bank towards the implementation of an environment conducive to economic activity.
During the meeting, topics such as “The role and responsibility of those involved in the credit process – challenges and opportunities” and “Credit to the real sector of the economy – ideas and perspectives” were discussed.
