Africa-Press – Angola. The Constitutional Court recommended, this Sunday, the Angolan society for a deep reflection on the protection of children’s rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola (CRA).
In the exhortation, within the scope of the 13 years of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola (CRA), marked this Sunday, the TC considers to constitute the absolute priority of the family, the State and society.
For the TC, it is necessary to continue to reflect on the rights and duties enshrined in the constitutional text, with the protection of children’s rights as a priority, for all that they represent for the future of this nation.
Refers that the constituent legislator, among others, child protection guarantees, enshrined in article 80 of the CRA a series of rights, guarantees and programs that aim to place children at the center of the construction of a free, fair, democratic, solidary society, of peace, equality and social progress.
Thus, the Constitutional Court guarantees that it will continue, in the exercise of its functions, to ensure the dissemination and application of these principles, contributing to increasing the constitutional literacy of the citizen and the trust that is increasingly required of the courts and, specifically, in the administration of justice in legal-constitutional matters.
For him, the protection of children does not only involve the consecration of their rights, but also the materialization of norms by the family, the State and society, through measures of an institutional, administrative, moral and affective nature leading to the implementation of such precepts .
In this sense, it indicates that the Constitutional Court promoted, during Constitution Week, the launch of the Constitution for Children, a work that depicts in comic strips various norms of the Constitution of the Republic, with language that allows children of school age, and beyond, to understand the constitutional foundations, as well as the scope of their rights and duties.
“Here, the importance of constitutional literacy is recognized, based on the universalization of knowledge of the text of the Constitution, since childhood”, he says.
On the other hand, this court pointed out as a fundamental task the translation of the CRA into the main Angolan languages of African origin, to reinforce the sense of national unity and awaken society to the importance of preserving the Angolan linguistic identity.
The country marks 13 years since the entry into force of the current Angolan constitutional order, instituted as a result of the approval and promulgation of the 2010 Constitution, an achievement of the young Angolan democracy, since a universe of principles, rights and guarantees were enshrined by the Constituent Legislator that have contributed to the strengthening of the Democratic State of Law in Angola.
It is the result of a historical constitutional process that went through several metamorphoses and underwent a specific revision in 2021, which aimed to reinforce the basic foundations of the Angolan State, anchored in democratic principles and the separation and interdependence of powers.
