Africa-Press – Angola. The construction project, in the 11 de Novembro district, in Mbanza Kongo, of 12 three-storey buildings comprising 212 apartments will contribute to the realization of many citizens’ dream of residing in decent housing.
The completion of the project, scheduled for February next year, is filling the inhabitants of Mbanza Kongo with hope. Hope increased even more with the announcement made recently by the MPLA candidate for President of the Republic, João Lourenço, of the construction of a centrality with 1500 houses, in case he is reelected.
For the young Pedro Timóteo dos Santos, 30 years old, graduated in Psychology and residing in the 4 de Fevereiro neighborhood, zone 4, the dream of owning a home is one of the premises for the improvement of the citizens’ living conditions, so he hopes that the Executive that leaves the electoral contest is more focused on the province of Zaire, especially in relation to the construction of centrality.
“I have been advising young people who complain about the lack of centralities in our region to calm down because the Executive is planning their construction. The 212 apartments, whose works are progressing at a good pace, can be considered as an example of the the region will deserve it in the near future”, he said.
The deputy governor of the province of Zaire for the Technical and Infrastructure sector, Ângela Botelho Diogo, clarified that the project to build 212 apartments had been approved in 2019 and includes shops and a whole set of basic sanitation services, whose works run at a good pace. The project is in charge of the company Omatapalo.
“These 212 apartments are scheduled to be completed in six months, that is, in February or March, when they begin to be delivered to the population, complying with the modalities, requirements and percentages for young people, former combatants and veterans of the Fatherland and the population in general”, said Ângela Diogo, stressing that there will also be a fixed income modality.
In addition to the construction of a new centrality in the province of Zaire, recently announced by the MPLA president, the minister made known the existence of a Presidential Decree that provides for the construction of three thousand residences in the province, corresponding to two centralities, one in the city of Mbanza Kongo and another in Soyo, each with 1,500 apartments.
“With the visit to Mbanza Kongo, last June, the President of the Republic announced the construction of three thousand houses, of which 1,500 in Mbanza Kongo and another 1,500 in the municipality of Soyo. Everything is ready, there is already a Presidential Decree on the subject, which means that now we have to mobilize companies and identify areas for their implementation”, he explained.
Ângela Diogo added that two areas were identified in Mbanza Kongo for the construction of the centrality, namely in Vombo, via do Luvo, and in Nkunga Paza, who goes to Luanda. It is only awaiting the technical opinion of the specialists, to define which one favors the transport of infrastructures such as electricity and piped water.
“What will define the place where the centrality will be implemented will be the ease of building infrastructure, that is, how to bring water and electricity to these locations. Preferably choose the area closest to the source”, he said.
Ângela Diogo refuted information according to which the 212 apartments will be part of the future centrality of Mbanza Kongo, as they are different presidential decrees. “Therefore, another construction company will be mobilized for the works of the centrality”, he said.
