Africa-Press – Angola. Customers and consumers of wings, carcass, chicken and turkey tails expressed this Monday, in Luanda, the need to continue importing these products in the country, as they offer quality and low cost in the acquisition of the respective goods.
The consumer request follows the opinions that are being conveyed on social networks by several Angolan citizens, who condemn the entry of some chicken derivatives into the country, such as wing tips, carcasses and chicken and turkey tails.
Contrary to the indignation shown by some citizens, on social networks, for alleged exaggeration in the shredding of chicken, traders and consumers of these derivatives are unanimous in maintaining imports, provided that the internationally recommended phytosanitary conditions are met, as long as the country “does not have the capacity to to satisfy the domestic market.
In a round carried out by press this Monday, on the outskirts of the Congolese market (Luanda), customers called for “these products not to be withdrawn from the national market”, as they are part of the Angolan diet.
For example, Celso Martins, one of the consumers of wings, advocates the permanence of these products, due to the quality and ease of making them.
According to this consumer, the whole chicken, in addition to being more expensive, the box brings a reduced amount, a fact that motivates people to resort to its derivatives to vary the homemade food options.
Another customer who also agrees with the continuity of these products on the market is Esperança Cassua, as they are more economical and profitable.
For the reseller of these products, customers currently prefer the wings more than the thigh box.
Due to the high demand for chicken parts, customer Milca do Nascimento explained that she usually buys wings, chicken thighs and pork tails as they are “tasty” products for the household.
Due to high demand, he said that these products had increased in price, with a box of wings costing Kz 11,500, against Kz 10,000 the previous month.
On the other hand, the manager of one of the warehouses selling perishable products in the Congolese market, António Kizaje, said that the products most sold in his establishment have been chicken thighs and wings, with a monthly sale of around 250 boxes per day, in the peak period (end of the month).
On the subject in question, recently, the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA) ensured the suitability for consumption of chicken and its derivatives sold on the national market.
The national director of Foreign Trade, Augusta Fortes, referred that “there is no law in the country that prohibits the entry of these products”.
In a meeting between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and 15 largest importers of chicken and its derivatives, the operators agreed that, from now on, specifications for importing these products will be improved, based on Presidential Decree 126/20 of May 5, which regulates import and export procedures.
