Africa-Press – Angola. Football lovers expressed, this Friday, in the city of Benguela, their belief in a victory for the Angolan team against their counterpart from Eswatini, in the qualifying game for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, in 2026.
According to the former goalkeeper of Nacional de Benguela, Jorge Pinto Leite, the Palancas Negras should approach the game calmly, as the opponent is theoretically inferior.
The former footballer is of the opinion that the national team has shown a lot of progress over the years, hence his belief in victory.
“I believe that, at this moment, there are conditions, whether technical or tactical, to achieve results that guarantee us passage to the World Cup,” he said.
The former coach of Nacional and 1o de Maio de Benguela said that, playing at home, he would risk a 4 – 3 – 3 or 3 – 5 – 2 system, because any of these can serve what is intended. “But the coach is the one who knows and has the opponent’s Scout,” he said.
“I hope everything goes well, playing at home, in front of our audience, the biggest gift we should have is victory”, he emphasized.
He called for a massive public presence on the field, to give the athletes the necessary strength.
R5 commentator Ivanov Emiliano said that Pedro Gonçalves currently has players who give him the guarantee of starting to beat the Eswatini team, because it is clearly within our reach.
In his view, we must learn from past mistakes, because the selection when under pressure becomes very unbalanced.
He said that Angola is in a difficult group, but the national team must win all its home games to return to a world championship, where it was in 2006, in Germany.
“If we look at the performance of Palancas Negras in the African Championship, Pedro Gonçalves will not change many players and if he starts with two strikers or in the 4 – 3 – 3 system, which allows for a strong and populated midfield, we will certainly win the game” , he said.
He highlighted that the Palancas must apply high pressure and shoot a lot, in order to create chances to score.
He highlighted the importance of the visit by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, which is a sign of support both institutionally and from the Angolan people.
For him, the players must be committed, because they are fighting for more than 30 million Angolans who want to see Angola in the world cup again.
Football coach Sessé Baptista said he believes in a victory for the national team, because they play in front of their home crowd and are in a very good moment, after the last football CAN.
He made it known that at this moment the Angolans must all be around the team, in order to show their affection and warmth even from a distance.
Angola is in group D with Cape Verde, Cameroon, Libya, Mauritania and Eswatini.
