Africa-Press – Angola. Ten former military cooperatives in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, northern Zaire province, this Friday benefited from an equal number of tractors and respective implements to promote agricultural activity in the region.

The act of handing over the machines was guided by the provincial governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, and witnessed by the Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio do Amaral, and by the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund to Support Agrarian Development (FADA ), Carlos Alberto.

On the occasion, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, said that the delivery of means aims to boost the cooperatives of former soldiers in the region in order to increase their agricultural production.

“The Executive will continue to support this fringe so that it will also contribute to the generation of more jobs and the diversification of the national economy”, he highlighted.

The governor asked the beneficiaries to keep the funds delivered.

In turn, representatives of some cooperatives of ex-soldiers present at the site thanked the gesture, stressing that the initiative demonstrates the concern of the Angolan Executive in solving the main problems of this fringe.

Available data indicate that 440 tractors have already been distributed nationwide, out of the 500 machines planned.

This is the second time that the province of Zaire benefits from tractors. In 2022, it was contemplated with 17 machines.

The province of Zaire controls 2,212 former soldiers.
