Africa-Press – Angola. Correios de Angola in the Center-South region collected, in 2023, a total of 16 million, 449 thousand 551 Kwanzas, with the sending and reception of various parcels, compared to 24 million 669 thousand in the previous year.

The information was provided this Tuesday by the director of Correios de Angola in this region of the country, Jorge Baião, when he mentioned that the reduction in revenue in the provinces of Bié, Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Sul and Huambo (headquarters) resulted, above all, the company’s current lack of competitiveness in the market.

Among the causes of the decrease, he indicated the lack of a postal code in the country, as a service that facilitates the sorting, routing and home delivery of correspondence to recipients, in addition to having essential information in correspondence, which identifies all address details.

He said that this is a negative situation that is being reversed by the current Board of Directors, as part of the company’s modernization process, which will provide better performance for customers and services provided, taking into account the entry of new competitors into the market.

He assured that revenues could increase after the country implements a postal code in the near future, despite the company currently having its own postal boxes, with a lot of support from individuals and public and private institutions.

Jorge Baião highlighted that Correios de Angola in the Center/South region needs at least six vehicles and an equal number of motorbikes, for the courier service, which is essential in processing customer orders.

Currently, he lamented, all of the company’s rolling stock for this service are out of order, which makes it difficult to fully satisfy customer demands, both in urban areas and in some municipalities.

He highlighted as the company’s perspective in the Center/South region, the return of the culture of using postal services by the population and the improvement in the processing of courier services, national and international express, cargo and logistics, among others.

The Center/South region has at least 1,512 functional postal boxes, of which close to half are rented.

Created on December 7, 1797, Correios de Angola provides various types of services, including traditional ones, namely normal, priority, registered, business and postal mail, while conventional ones are post office, circulation tax, internet, fax, scanning and sale of various refills.
