Africa-Press – Angola. In the fifth week of March, the price of bologna bread, at the Candando supermarket chain, and beans, at the Angomart chain of stores, showed notable reductions of around 55.70 and 37.06 percent, respectively.

According to data compiled by Jornal de Angola, the same downward trend in prices was seen with horse mackerel, in the Africana Discount network, with a drop of 35.37%.

The biggest price changes, in the period from 27 March to 1 April, were recorded in supermarkets Fresmart, with 2.07 percent, Intermarket, with 1.03 percent, and Maxi, with 0.53 percent. On the other hand, prices fell at Angomart (1.76%), Africana Discount (1.38%) and Deskontão (1.00%). In commercial establishments, the price variation of basic basket products between the 4th and 5th week of March registered a slight reduction of 0.22%. The products that contributed to this price reduction were bread, with 9.03%, ordinary rice, with 5.39% and horse mackerel, with 4.91%.

On the other hand, the biggest price change was seen with cornmeal (5.21 percent), wheat flour (1.94%) and beef (1.70%). In terms of solid product basket, Fresmart presented the most competitive offer. The current behavior in relation to the prices practiced in the main supermarket chains should be repeated this week, looking at the trend of the last few weeks. In the last seven days, prices have dropped by an average of 20 percent, confirming the influence that the Strategic Food Reserve (REA) has on the market.
