Cuando Cubango: Attorney General's Office reinforced with new technicians

Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR), in Cuando Cubango, was reinforced with the entry of eight new justice technicians, admitted in the last public tender for admission to special careers, held in May this year, according to order number 5603. /21 of December 13, 2021.

According to the Attorney General of the Republic in Cuando Cubango, Nilton Muaca, the group of professionals, who have just joined the service, will not respond to the problems that the PGR in the region faces, regarding the lack of justice technicians, but it will minimize the daily difficulties in carrying out your activities.

Nilton Muaca said that, in the public contest in question, in addition to recognizing the skills of the most qualified, the jury gave priority to young people residing in the province of Cuando Cubango, whose ages range from 23 to 31 years old.

He referred that the new technicians will be distributed to the bodies of the Attorney General’s Office, together with the Department of Investigation of Criminal Illicits (DIIP), the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and the Menongue District Court.

He informed that the PGR works with about 35 employees, of which about 10 will be retired in the near future, with more than 100 new employees being needed, including prosecutors and technicians from different areas, to guarantee the normal functioning of the institution and the speed of criminal proceedings.

He added that many crimes that are committed within the province escape the PGR, or their authors take a long time to be accused, because, except for Menongue, which hosts the largest number of prosecutors, and the municipalities of Cuchi and Cuito Cuanavale, the remaining six municipal seats are not covered by the Public Ministry.

Judicial magistrates were appointed to the SIC for the municipalities of Cuchi and Cuito Cuanavale, who provide some periodic judicial assistance, which is a great help.

The Attorney General of the Republic in Cuando Cubango, Nilton Muaca, adding that the lack of access roads and the long distances, between one locality and another in the province of Cuando Cubango, are also major obstacles, a situation that is aggravated by the the lack of its own facilities and rolling stock to carry out its activities.

“There is an urgent need to place attorneys general in all municipalities in the province, namely in Calai, Cuangar, Dirico, Mavinga, Nancova and Rivungo, which are still lacking, in order to overcome the delays that have been registered in the resolution of many criminal cases with the Prosecutor’s Office”, he explained.

He made it known that the PGR has a dynamic and fruitful team, despite the good number of existing prosecutors, who consent to redoubled efforts to send as many criminal cases as possible to the court, in order to avoid cases with excessive imprisonment. preventive measures in prisons, he said.

He indicated that the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and other justice bodies, at the level of Cuando Cubango, enjoy a good institutional relationship, which is the guarantee of the success of justice in the region, although there are numerous difficulties.
