Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Cuando Cubango has, since Friday, the first headquarters of the Council of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA), which will promote legal assistance to citizens with financial difficulties in hiring a lawyer.
The headquarters of the Provincial Council of OAA will be ensured by 106 lawyers, 51 seniors and 55 interns.
The acting presiding judge of the Comarca de Menongue, HeĢlder Pedro, congratulated the OAA for the initiative to create, for the first time, a provincial headquarters, as the Public Ministry works with judges and without the defense it is not possible to provide a quality justice service. to citizens.
Despite this achievement, he said that the number of lawyers enrolled in the Provincial Council of the OAA is insufficient to meet the current demand, since Cuando Cubango has over 600,000 inhabitants, 60 percent of which live in the municipality of Menongue.
He referred that the headquarters of the OAA will allow the Public Ministry to be supported in whatever is necessary in relation to the Court, and the office will serve as a school for all those who want to follow the profession of lawyer.
The president of the Provincial Council of the OAA, Telmo Fracione, said that the entry into operation of this headquarters is the realization of a dream of all the associates who in the past managed the activities in a precarious way, due to the lack of official facilities recognized by the Government. .
“Since we are constitutionally indispensable collaborators for the administration of justice, with the entry into operation of this office, it will prevent people from resorting to other provinces in search of these services, which are already sorely needed in the province”, he said.
He stressed that with the opening of this office, dissemination will be carried out in order to acculturate the population to legal issues, when they feel that they are in conflict with the law and need legal assistance, with a view to achieving the desired goals.
The OAA Provincial Council of Lawyers also handed over professional certificates to 11 members, one senior and ten employees.
