Africa-Press – Angola. The government of Cuando Cubango, Defense and Security bodies and members of civil society paid tribute Wednesday, to the memory of the President of the Republic of Namibia, Hage Geingob, who died due to illness last Sunday.

The tribute took place at the headquarters of the Consulate General of the Republic of Namibia in Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango, where many government figures and others, who signed the book of condolences, open to the public today, after closed doors on Sunday and the flag of neighboring country at half price.

Upon leaving the Consulate, the vice-governor of Cuando Cubango for Technical Services and Infrastructures, João Bonifácio Cassanga, told the press that he had conveyed the feeling of regret to the Namibian people, given the historical fact that unites Angola and Namibia, in terms of coexistence, bringing people together, especially the province, bordered by river and land.

He considered it a difficult time for the Namibian people due to the premature loss of the President who was preparing for new challenges for the benefit of Namibia, which is why there is an urgent need to join in this pain.

For his part, the king of Menongue, Manuel Dala (Mwene Vunongue VIII), said it was a moment of sadness for both peoples, due to the brotherhood and bonds of friendship that unite the two countries, hoping that his successor will achieve the challenges outlined by Hage Geingob.

The deputy commander of the Southeast Military Region, Brigadier António Paulo Kassanga, stated that Namibia is a brotherly people and country, which shares a common border with Angola, so the loss of statesman Geingob from the Southern African Region is irreparable.

On the occasion, the consul general of the Republic of Namibia, who is responsible for the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Bié, Huambo and Moxico, Joseph Mbambo Kaveto, highlighted that the Namibian people are in deep sadness over the loss of their president, hence paying due tribute at the consulate.

However, he expressed his satisfaction at the fact that many figures from the government and civil society appeared at the consulate to pay homage, a fact that reiterates the good relations and bonds of brotherhood that exist between the two States, since the day of his death to date.

It should be noted that Hage Geingob passed away in the early hours of Sunday, at the age of 82, due to illness, at Lady Pohamba hospital, in the Namibian capital, Windhoek.
