Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Bié, Afonso Belo Sanguvila, wants the involvement of the business class and promoters of cultural events in the 2024 Carnival edition, aiming to improve the quality of the groups’ presentation.
Afonso Belo Sanguvila spoke to the press, in Cuito, as part of the preparations for Entrudo.
In addition to the Government, the person responsible considered it important to have a more active participation of other actors in society, taking into account the needs for the success of this largest cultural event.
This year’s provincial Carnival event takes place on February 13, 2024. Registration ends on January 24.
At the moment, 18 carnival groups are registered in the nine municipalities, including adults and children.
At municipal level, the festival will take place between January 29th and February 3rd.
In 2023, 15 groups participated in Carnival, 12 adults and three children.
In the adult class, the group “Nova Geração Educacional”, from the municipality of Camacupa, won, with 737 points.
As for children, the three carnival groups, in a representative manner, performed at the event with the same theme, singing songs and dances that called for combating the escape from fatherhood.
