Africa-Press – Angola. Three thousand and 600 people with disabilities, out of the 4,412 controlled in the province of Cunene, benefit this year from basic food baskets, wheelchairs, crutches and professional kits, delivered by the Office of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality.

The distribution of basic food baskets consisting of rice, corn flour, sugar, beans, oil and salt is calculated according to the number of people per family, which varies between seven and 10 kilograms per product.

The director of the Cunene Social Action Office, Georgina Braga, said that this segment of society, including children and adults, are assisted depending on the availability of food.

He recalled that this follow-up requires attention from the institutions and families in which they are located, to feel protected from acts of discrimination and stigma often faced in their daily lives.

The person in charge highlighted the need to create some facilities so that they can also participate in active life and in the challenges that the country has been implementing.

Georgina Braga said that the Angolan Executive has been working to implement specific programs aimed at recognizing these people for their inclusion.
