Africa-Press – Angola. Six theater groups and five poets are taking part this Sunday in the first provincial edition of the Theater and Poetry Stage, in Cunene province, aiming to provide interaction with the community, offering moments of leisure.
The festival, in which artists from the municipalities of Cuanhama, Ombadja, Cuvelai and Curoca participate, aims to stimulate theatrical production and encourage the adaptation of national literature.
At the opening of the event, the director of the Cunene Provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Nelson Ndemulikuata, said that the event marks the closing of the National Culture Festival (FENACULT), inserted in the Special – Centenary of the birth of the first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto.
He indicated that the Theater and Poetry Stage will contribute to the promotion of literature and scenic arts and the recitation of poetry, stressing that the province has talents with diversified cultural potential who need new opportunities.
For this purpose, he said that there is a need to create a culture room and an amphitheater to allow the realization of cultural activities, as well as more support from the business class, in the sense of sponsoring cultural events.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that the day opened last November focused on holding the strategic meeting on the shows, exchange between event promoters and artistic class, art and culture exhibition fair, provincial stage of modern and folkloric dance and the provincial competition of poetry and theatre.
