Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA scheduled the party’s XIV Ordinary Congress for the second half of November, having mandated the Permanent Committee to create the necessary conditions for holding the conclave. This was one of the decisions taken at the UNITA Political Commission meeting, held under the guidance of the party president, Adalberto Costa Júnior.
According to the statement of the meeting, held under the motto “For the alternation of power: discipline, loyalty and cohesion”, the Political Commission also approved the number of delegates to the Congress – which however was not mentioned – in order to guarantee a broad and democratic representation.
The governing body of the largest opposition party welcomed the meeting that took place recently at the Palácio da Cidade Alta between the Head of State and the president of UNITA, encouraging the latter to continue building bridges for dialogue as a way of improving the country’s political, economic and social environment.
The UNITA Political Commission, concludes the statement, stands in solidarity with the workers who were victims of the fire at the BBLT Oil Platform in Cabinda.
