Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Dallas, located in the north of the State of Texas, will host, from the 6th to the 9th of this month, the 16th US-Africa Business Summit, organized by the Corporate Council for Africa (CCA).
This year, the business summit’s central theme is “USA – Business in Africa: Partnerships for sustainable success”, and is expected to bring together more than a thousand business leaders from the host country and the “cradle continent”.
The summit represents CCA’s main business exchange platform, focused on trade, investment and commercial engagement between the US and Africa, and attracts, annually, several African Heads of State and Government, as well as senior US Government officials.
According to the organization, hundreds of American and African business executives from different sectors, such as agribusiness, energy, finance, health, ICT, infrastructure, security, tourism and trade facilitation, are expected over the four days of work..
The initiative provides a platform for high-level discussions and economic partnerships between North Americans and Africans, aimed at promoting sustainable commercial relationships between US and African nations and companies.
During the summit, US and African private sector executives as well as government representatives will be able to engage in high-level debates on various issues affecting the US-Africa economic relationship.
Sessions will focus on key sectors including agribusiness, energy, health, infrastructure, security, trade facilitation, ICT, creative industries and finance.
The event is also an opportunity to establish contacts with key people in the private sector and government, explore new business opportunities and meet potential commercial partners.
Likewise, the summit serves to shape and defend effective trade and investment policies between the US and Africa, and in recent years, the CCA has hosted more than 50 US and African Heads of State and more than 15 thousand participants at their summits.
According to the organization, “it constitutes a vital platform to deepen U.S.-African business ties in key sectors,” and “promote unparalleled networking opportunities by facilitating meetings between U.S. and African private sector executives, government representatives, investors and entrepreneurs”.
The initiative, according to the CCA, opens up opportunities to “forge partnerships, explore new business avenues and shape policies that promote robust trade and investment relations between the US and Africa”.
Data indicates that the US-Africa Business Summit has annually attracted an average of a thousand participants from 40 countries, including 46 Heads of State since its inception, and is therefore “a testament to the dynamic and evolving economic landscape between the USA and Africa”.
According to organizers, since the inaugural summit in 1997, CCA has successfully brought together stakeholders from around the world to discuss challenges, identify solutions and expand investment between the US and Africa.
The summit, which took place in 2023 in Botswana (fifth edition organized on the African continent) continues to embody the spirit of collaboration and mutual growth.
According to the organization, “this year’s event promises to be the most dynamic and engaging yet, offering unparalleled opportunities for networking, collaboration and knowledge sharing.”
To this end, a delegation from the US Government is expected in Dallas, where it will participate in the summit and also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which delivered more than 10 billion dollars in political reforms institutional and infrastructure investments in Africa.
The delegation is led by US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who will be accompanied by Alice Albright, Chair of the MCC Board of Directors, and Reta Jo Lewis, President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, among other individualities.
