Dande District Court wants citizens close to justice

Africa-Press – Angola. The presiding judge of the District Court of Dande, José Lobão Cosme, said in Caxito that the mission of the courts is to promote a permanent, interactive and close relationship with citizens, in order to create solid foundations of trust and credibility in the system. of Justice.

The magistrate made it known, by the way, that only in this way is it possible to consolidate the rule of law and democracy. José Lobão Cosme, who was speaking at the 1st Meeting of Judicial Cooperation in Bengo, opened on Friday, explained that the province has only 15 judges and 41 judicial employees. This situation, he said, led to the postponement of hearings and trials, affecting the body’s productivity, with a negative impact on the justice system.

He mentioned that due to the low number of employees, 856 processes of a different nature were carried over to this year. José Cosme regretted the length of time registered in some commercial banks, the lack of civil registration and of property essential for the procedural processing, of addresses with precise information on the location of residences, streets without numbering and difficulties in communication, as a result of the fragility of the telephone network and very low Internet signal.

The presiding judge of the District Court of Dande, José Cosme, asked the Government to pay greater attention to the Justice services, implementing the Dembos District Court, in order to mitigate the suffering of the populations of the province, especially with regard to displacement , when they need to deal with different issues.

“We ask that an accelerated touch be given to the creation of operating conditions for the Juvenile Justice Room, taking into account that delinquency on this fringe is not properly fought, resulting, therefore, in an increasingly complex police problem”, stressed.

On the occasion, the provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Nelumba, said that all public and private entities have the duty to cooperate with the courts in the execution of their functions, and must perform, within the limits of their powers, all the acts that are requested of them.

“The time is now to encourage and help strengthen the commitment to the work they have been carrying out, in criminal and civil cases, bearing in mind that many of them take a long time, due to lack of human resources and conditions of work, he stressed.

Maria Nelumba said that she is not oblivious to the activities carried out by the country’s courts. As for Bengo, she highlighted the cases related to the illegal occupants of the Capari Centrality, evasion of paternity and the rape of minors.

Organized by the Dande District Court, the 1st Judicial Cooperation Meeting facilitated the crossing of information, exchanges of experience, adjustment of certain legal procedures, both from a procedural and substantive point of view, between the institutions of the Justice sector.

During the meeting, the “Criminal Situation in the Province’s Territory”, “Criminal and Civil Jurisdiction”, “Jurisdiction for Minors and Family”, “Military Judiciary Police”, “Military Prosecutor’s Office and Military Court” were discussed.
