Africa-Press – Angola. The Democratic Bloc opened the political year today, in the city of Cuito, Bié province, with its eyes focused on local authorities.
The event was guided by its president, Filomeno Vieira Lopes.
During a mass event, held in the commune of Cunje, municipality of Cuito, the politician stressed that the Democratic Bloc will put pressure on legal entities this year to schedule local elections.
He considered the implementation of local authorities a process that could reduce regional asymmetries, hence the pressing need to schedule local elections.
He also defended the need to strengthen the democratic process in the country, with a view to strengthening national reconciliation, as well as state institutions.
Even today, the Democratic Bloc launched the citizenship tent, with the aim of mobilizing more activists to join its ranks.
The president of the Democratic Bloc, who has been in this province since Saturday, has already visited the bishopric of the Catholic Church, the synod of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA), as well as holding a meeting with civil society.
