Deputies Call for Completion of Public Works

Africa-Press – Angola. National Assembly members representing the Lunda-Norte provincial constituency called this Tuesday for rigorous oversight of public works and financial solutions to restart and complete stalled projects in the municipality of Lucapa.

The members made this appeal at the end of a site visit to the construction of two 10- and 12-classroom schools at the District Court, part of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Program (PIIM) and the Eurobond credit line, the latter with discontinued financing.

The physical completion of both schools is approximately 90 percent, while the Lucapa District Court is practically complete, awaiting equipment and other technical details.

On the occasion, the spokesperson for the deputies of the provincial district of Lunda-Norte, Elisa Solange Paxe, said that after the on-site inspection, advocacy will be carried out with the local government and related ministries to find urgent solutions, aiming at the completion of the works.According to Elisa Paxe, the opening of the two schools and the District Court will reduce the number of children outside the regular education system and bring justice services closer to citizens, hence the deputies’ interest in advocating with related bodies to complete the projects.

She said that one of the solutions will be the inclusion of the projects in the General State Budget for the 2026 fiscal year.

Furthermore, she praised the social responsibility initiatives carried out by Sociedade Mineira do Kaixepa, highlighting the construction of schools and health centers, support for the development of agriculture, and the expansion of sports, among others.

She encouraged the company’s management to continue promoting initiatives aimed at ensuring that citizens living in neighboring communities have access to basic social services.Regarding the local administration’s concerns regarding professional internships for students at the Lucapa High School, he said he had received word from the mine’s management that the situation would be addressed starting next academic year.

In the municipality of Lucapa, the representatives also visited the Photovoltaic Power Plant, with a capacity to produce 7.72 megawatts of electricity, and met with the local administrator, Adriano Muandumba.

The next municipality to be visited will be Cambulo, 95 kilometers from the city of Dundo.
