Africa-Press – Angola. The deputies of the MPLA parliamentary group, defended Tuesday, the implementation of an engineering faculty in the province of Lunda Norte, to satisfy the need for labor in the local mining industry.
Speaking to the press, the coordinator of the deputies who supervise the actions of the Government in the province of Lunda Norte, Américo Cuononoca, underlined that the eastern region is an area of diamond exploration, which justifies the creation of an engineering faculty, for training of young locals in geology and mining specialties.
He suggested that the project for the future university center under construction in the urban district of Mussungue be reviewed, “so that instead of hosting only the economics and law faculties, some rooms for engineering and medicine courses are added”.
He said that the parliamentarians will take this matter to the relevant ministries in order to find a solution and give opportunity to local young people in terms of training in mining engineering.
The deputies visited the expansion works of the Luachimo hydroelectric dam, where they were informed about the tests of the machines, reasons for energy restrictions, execution deadlines, among others.
They also visited the construction work on the Chitato multipurpose pavilion, paralyzed since 2016 for financial reasons, of a school with seven classrooms included in the Integrated Plan for Intervention to Municipalities (PIIM).
The works to stop the ravines at Camatundo, the airport and the centrality of Mussungue were also supervised by the deputies.
The inspection work of the deputies will be carried out in the ten municipalities (Chitato, Cambulo, Cuango, Caungula, Capenda Camulemba, Cuilo, Lucapa, Lóvua, Lubalo and Xá-muteba), during six days.
