Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy governor of Huambo for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Angelino Elavoco, defended, this Friday, the correct use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), for the promotion of peace and unity of people .

The official was speaking on behalf of the provincial governor, Lotti Nolika, at the opening of the 2nd Edition of the Information and Communication Technologies Fair (TIC-Huambo/2023), which takes place in the courtyard adjacent to the Osvaldo Serra Van-dunem pavilion, under the motto “Responsible use of digital services, for better technological inclusion”.

According to the vice-governor, ICT serve, when well used, as essential vehicles for the promotion of values and harmony in society, in addition to contributing to the fight against various crimes, especially cyber crimes.

Hence, he said, the fair, in addition to representing an opportunity for exhibitors to publicize and expand their brands, products/services and increase the customer portfolio, should also raise citizens’ awareness about the proper use of these tools. .

Angelino Elavoco lamented the fact that ICTs are increasingly being used for theft, attacks on people’s dignity, human trafficking, drugs, dissemination of inappropriate content, among other aspects considered unacceptable, instead of promoting well-being among citizens.

Therefore, he called for the promotion of the correct use of these tools, in order to serve as a means of harmony, appreciation and preservation of society.

For his part, the director of the Registry and Administrative Modernization office in Huambo province, Abel Lucamba, informed that the fair has 63 exhibitors from the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Huambo and Zaire.

He said that these are public and private institutions, inventors and other individuals who, with a lot of creativity and technological innovation, will make the place an opportunity for investments and partnerships, as well as reflections on the role of ICT in cybersecurity and in the fight against unemployment.

On site, he added, driving licenses, payment for electricity and water and other essential services for citizens will be issued.

Lasting two days, the fair takes place in reference to the 17th of May, World Internet, Telecommunications and Information Society Day.

The first edition took place in 2019.
