The vice-governor of Cuanza Sul province for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Emília Tchinawalile, praised, this Wednesday, in Sumbe, the selfless effort and commitment of the carnival groups for a dignified performance in the 2023 edition, which will take place between the 20th and 21st of this month.
For this edition, 234 groups are registered, including adults, children, traditional groups and animation blocks in the 12 municipalities of the province.
The deputy governor said that she has been following the rehearsals of some groups in several municipalities and that they demonstrate commitment, improvement in their presentation, songs, dances, clothing and other items.
“Carnival is a celebration of the people, joy, rhythm (…) and that contributes to the development of national culture”, he concluded. .
On the other hand, the director of the provincial Office for Culture, Youth and Sports, Francisco Ventura, confirmed that the financial support is guaranteed by the provincial government and should be received in the coming days.
The 2022 Carnival edition was not held due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however the local government took advantage of the occasion and honored the best groups, including Fineza do Inconcon, Água e Luz, Cruzeta, Bota Fogo and others, on account of the contribution they make to Carnival in the municipality of Sumbe.
