Africa-Press – Angola. The inhabitants of the municipality of Dirico, province of Cuando Cubango, have had a Banco Sol branch since today, Friday, the first in this region, which will reduce the long distances they travel to access banking services.
The inauguration of the bank branch was guided by the vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic sectors of Cuando Cubango, Helena Chimena, who praised the initiative of this institution, in an action that will contribute to the development of the municipality and the reduction of abandonment of workplaces by employees.
The deputy governor said that employees were forced to travel more than 700 kilometers to access banking services in Menongue or use the market in the Republic of Namibia to exchange that country’s currency in order to have access to basic necessities, which harmed their income.
Helena Chimena highlighted the importance of the municipality of Dirico, as it is the location that hosts the Okavango Zambezi project, which receives many tourists who enjoy the potential of this location.
“With the bank, the municipality will raise money for tourism development in the region”, he highlighted.
In turn, the regional coordinator of Banco Sol, Gad Joaquim, assured that the next step will be the massive campaign to open bank accounts for public and private employees to allow them to leverage bank transactions.
The person in charge assured that his institution will make available to Dirico residents automatic payment systems, both “ATM” and “TPA”, to facilitate populations in other locations having access to these public services, to improve the quality of life of residents. population.
The municipality of Dirico has approximately 15 thousand and 126 inhabitants.
